In case you hadn't realized it yet...

... Dirk Nowitski is realy good at basketball. Last night agaisnt the Oklahoma City Thunder he scored 48 points by shooting 12-15 from the field and 24-24 from the line. Yep, you read that right, Dirk went 24-24 from the line. That is the best anyone has ever done from the charity stripe in NBA history. Also, Dirk's 12-15 from the field wasn't so bad. I watched the game and it wasn't like Dirk was getting wide open shots all night. The Thunder did a god job of pressuring him and playing him physically (one of the reasons he had 24 free throws). All and all Dirk just did an awesome job.

If only he had celebrated by punching Clay Bennett in the face and than while screaming in German, dropped to his knees and flexed all his muscles with his fist clenched at his sides, it would have been a perfect night.

  1. Dirk has pretty well established himself as one of the best, if not the best, international player ever. Nice for him to be getting that recognition this year.

  3. Although I was never a huge Sonics fan, I am very conflicted when it comes to the Thunder. I hate that Clay Bennett came into Seattle and stole the team away. I also find myself drawn to their young, talented, easy to like players. Basically I am forced to hate and love them at the same time. I have found that the best I cna do is just try to ignore them, which is usually easy. However, now they had to go make it to the Western conference Finals and I have to see them all over the place.

  4. The Thunder need to be hated by all members of the Seattle area even if they weren't Sonics fans based on principle in my mind. Sports teams, unlike other businesses, are integral parts of the community at best, something the citizens can bond over and create positive change. Bennett affectively destroyed the Seattle Center and devastated the community by moving them. Thank God the Sounders came in at least.

  5. You're kidding, right Matt? You really think that Seattle needs a pro basketball team? We don't have the fans for it. You would be lying if you said that the Seattle fans would stand for the entire 4th quarter of the Western Conference Finals even though their team was down by almost 20. You're kidding yourself if you think that the Key Arena is anywhere near a useful facility. We're not the town for it...
